Materials Science and Engineering Overview

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UT Dallas involves the study of advanced materials – including metals and their composites, polymers, silicon and biomaterials – and their potential use in various applications.

Our department is housed in the Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory, which rivals museums in its aesthetics and leading universities and industry labs whose state-of-the-art equipment enhances research capabilities.

Research

Focusing on nanoscale materials and phenomena, our research is at the cutting edge of nanoelectronics, photovoltaics, batteries and supercapacitors, atomically precise manufacturing, nanosize coatings and materials for biomedical applications.
