 How to apply

Thank you for your interest in applying to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas. Please see our admission requirements below.

General admission requirements for master’s and Ph.D. students for
Materials Science and Engineering:

  • Two copies of all college/university transcripts or mark sheets**
  • Graduate studies application
  • GRE score (official copies required)
  • Narrative (a brief narrative outlining your background, education and professional goals)
  • Three letters of recommendation (from individuals who are able to judge your probability of success in pursuing a program of study)
  • $50 application fee*

Additional requirements for international students:

  • Credentials and translation
  • English Proficiency (TOEFL Score) (official copies required)
  • $50 foreign credential fee, if applicable*
  • $100 nonrefundable international document evaluation fee (for any student who has been educated outside the United States)
  • Diplomas or degree certificates**
  • Certified translation of non-English documents**
  • Financial affidavit and original bank statements

Applications will not be reviewed until all required documents have been submitted to both locations (Enrollment Services and Materials Science and Engineering).  Only complete applications received by the deadline will be guaranteed an admissions decision. Incomplete applications will not be processed, and there is no guarantee that your application will be reviewed if is not completed by the deadline.

* All fees are nonrefundable. Payment must be in U.S. dollars. You may use a non-U.S. bank check, but it must have the routing number permanently printed on the bottom. You may mail a money order, a check drawn on a U.S. bank to the address above or pay online via ApplyTexas before you submit your application.

** Please submit all official/attested documents in a sealed envelope with the institutional stamp on the outside of the envelope.
