The SiWEDS Program will start on Thursday May 25th, 2000 at 8:00 am with breakfast at the Marriott, Portland, followed by a welcome of George Rozgonyi and the keynote speech for this SiWEDS meeting, given by Dr Wataru Ohashi from Nippon Steel, Japan. We plan to adjourn the meeting early in the afternoon of Friday 26th, to allow everybody to get home in time. Click here for the "Final Program" of the meeting. As all speakers and titles have not been determined, you will find some items referred as to NYA (Not Yet Available). I hope to update this Website shortly with these items. Please let me also remind those, who intend to participate in the meeting, and who have not yet submitted the "Meeting Registration Form" to do so ASAP.
The first SiWEDS Review meeting of the new Millennium will be held at the Downtown Marriott in Portland, OR, on Thursday and Friday May 25&26, 2000. The meeting will be hosted by George Rozgonyi. We plan to have a social dinner on Thursday night.
A detailed program is not yet available, but will be posted on this Web-site in April. However, the program will follow the general format of the Spring '99 meeting in Sedona, AZ. Suggestions for Non-SiWEDS speakers are welcome and should be submitted to George Rozgonyi, the Director of SiWEDS.
All those who plan on attending the meeting need to make their own reservations at the Marriott hotel, 1401 SW Naito Parkway, Portland, OR 97201. We have negotiated a reduced room rate of $124 per night for participants of the SiWEDS Review meeting. The Marriott reservation number is:
1- 800-228-9290
or
(1)- 503-226-7600 (for outside the USA)
To obtain the reduced rate, you have to make your reservation on or before May 3, and you must mention that you are a participant of the SiWEDS meeting.
The most convenient way from the Portland International Airport to the Downtown Marriott is by taxi, which takes about 20 minutes. For participants traveling by car, the Marriott guarantees hotel parking for overnight guests only. Parking rates are $17.00 for overnight guests, with in and out privileges, and $14.00 for daily use. There are, however, approximately 1,500 available parking spaces conveniently located within two blocks of the hotel.
Please complete and submit the "MEETING REGISTRATION FORM" (click 'on') as soon as possible, and in case you would like to suggest any guests or speakers for this meeting inform George Rozgonyi.
