Welcome NEW Students

Joseph Beam is from Plano, TX, and did his undergraduate work at the University of Dallas. He started Materials Science and Engineering at UTD as a master’s student, but switched programs to PhD and began working with Dr. Cormac Toher’s group this fall.

Matthew Beltran is from Livermore, Calif., but lives in Allen, TX. Matthew began his association with MSE as a master’s student and switched to PhD to study with Dr. Laisuo Su’s group this fall. Matthew is interested in energy and battery research. He thinks MSE can help find sustainable energy solutions and he wants to be part of that solution.

Nargol Jalali is a PhD student from Tehran, Iran and did her undergraduate work at the University of Tehran. Her interests are in photocatalysis, nanomaterials, semiconductors, catalysis and water treatment. Nargol is with Dr. Kevin Brenner’s group.

Ke Jiaqi is a PhD student from Guangzhou, China. She chose UTD to work with Dr. Laisuo Su and battery research. In her spare time, she wants to travel and see all of the cities in the U.S.

Milan Patel is a master’s degree student from Frisco, TX. He got his undergraduate degree from UTD and decided to continue his education with MSE. He wants to study the mechanical properties of materials and the usage of silicon in semiconductors. When he graduates, he wants to work in the industry, preferably aerospace.

Hyunah “Daniela” Sung was born in Houston, TX, but grew up in South Korea. She finished her undergraduate degree in North Carolina. She is most interested in semiconductor materials and their critical role in modern technology. Daniela’s career goal is to work in the semiconductor industry when she graduates with her PhD.
