Welcome NEW Students

Kevin Yee, MS student

Kevin Yee, MS student

Kevin Yee is a native of Austin, Texas but has lived in the Dallas area for a couple of years. Yee received his bachelor of science in engineering from Princeton University in 2022 from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. He says he chose materials science at UT Dallas because it is one of the state’s best electronic materials science graduate programs. “After studying conventional materials science in undergrad and internships, I wanted to explore the cutting edge of materials science and engineering by studying materials science and electronics. UT Dallas seemed to be the best school for me.” After earning his degree, Yee wants to pursue a career in the aerospace industry. He says he wants to be involved in the development of electronics used in aircraft drones and missiles. In his spare time, Yee loves the outdoors. He enjoys birdwatching, hiking and reading.

Lifang Hu, PhD Student

Lifang Hu, PhD Student

Lifang Hu is a native of Taiyuan, China. She moved to Texas to study chemistry in Houston, but Dr. Moon Kim lured her away to UT Dallas to study with his group in materials science and engineering. After she completes her doctorate, Hu plans to work in industry, using her skills to improve materials and products for all of us! When she isn’t in the lab or studying, Hu enjoys playing pool and sports. She likes to be active and appreciates the fast-paced atmosphere research provides. She advises students to think carefully about their majors, choosing an area of high interest and pursuing it with dedication.

Md. Musfiqur Rahman, PhD Student

Md. Musfiqur Rahman, PhD Student

Musfiq Rahman is a native of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his undergraduate work in materials and metallurgical engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Rahman chose UT Dallas because we offer a program that encompasses electronic materials and semiconductor-based materials. After completing his degree, he wants to stay in the field of research and hopefully join the research and development sector in industry. Rahman says he wants to encourage people who are interested in materials science to join the program at the Jonsson School because it offers an immense opportunity to develop so many skills to learn and grow as an engineer. In his spare time, Rahman likes to read and watch movies, but since he is an international student, he also wants to travel across the United States to see beautiful natural sights and meet new people.
