Kulatheepan Thanabalasingam

Ph.D. student KulatheepanThanabalasingam and Dr. McCalltraveled to Oak Ridge NationalLaboratory to conduct neutron PairDistribution Function measurementson 2D perovskites on the NOMADbeamline, studying the local structureof these atypical semiconductors. Theresults proved the hypothesis that theaverage and local structure of thesematerials differ substantially due to ns2lone pair interactions, and this work isexpected to yield new design principlesfor unconventional semiconductors.
