Welcome NEW Students

Hamza Sellami is from Morocco and earned his master’s degree in Physics and New Technologies from the Faculty of Sciences Ben M’Sik, University Hassan II, Casablanca. His passion for materials science, especially nanomaterials and their applications, led him to pursue a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at UTD.
He is currently part of Professor Quevedo’s research team, where he explores advanced materials and nanotechnology. He’s particularly interested in sensors and semiconductors and hopes to deepen his knowledge in this field. After graduation, he sees himself either continuing research in the industry or becoming a professor to help inspire future scientists. Outside of research, he loves drawing, traveling, and playing soccer.

Md Ghulam Zakir is a PhD student who completed his undergrad work from Rajshahi University of Engineering Technology in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Prior joining in Materials Science and Engineering Department of UTD, he persuade MSc in Electrical Engineering from University of South Carolina. He decide on Material Science Department of UTD for its state of art technology and extensive resources for semiconductor and LED device fabrication and also for those material development opportunities. Apart from this its excellent research environment and industrial collaboration are other reasons to bring him here in UTD. He is highly motivated to build his career in novel epitaxial structure development and device processing for LED and wideband gap semiconductors. His future plan is to contribute to the advance semiconductor technologies that will drive innovation in key areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and sustainable energy solution. In his spare time he likes to play sports and enjoy travelling. He is part of Dr. Matthew Wong’s group.

Mohamed Zetati is from Morocco and earned his bachelor’s degree in Physics from Chouaib Doukkali University, followed by a master’s in Renewable Energies and Materials from the University Hassan II of Casablanca, Ben M’sik. Currently, he is a PhD student at UT Dallas, focusing on surface science and 2D materials integrated into devices. His goal is to contribute to the advancement of next-generation electronic and energy devices through materials research.

Siddharth Gupta is from India and earned his undergraduate degree in India in Electrical Engineering, followed by a Masters in Nuclear Engineering from Penn State. Currently, he is a PhD student in Materials Science & Engineering at UTD, focusing on contributing to new research and understanding the physics of wide-bandgap semiconductors. His future goals include applying what he has learned at UTD under Dr. Matthew Wong for novel applications of semiconductors in applied nuclear and particle physics in aerospace environments.
