Overview
Dr. Brenner’s research investigates the transport, conversion, and control of thermal and electrical energy. He is interested in both the fundamental limits of phonon and electron transport, and in materials and devices that can better control this energy. He applies this research to engineering challenges in material interfaces, thermal management, and energy-efficient computing. The capabilities of his research include structural and chemical characterization of materials at extreme temperatures (77 K to 1773 K), measurements of thermal conductivity and thermal boundary conductance, and the fabrication and testing of nanoscale devices.
